This Toolkit contains 3 PDFs you can use for helping your child learn to read using an Orton-Gillingham methodology. (NOTE: This is not a complete instructional program, but contains the elements for instruction using Orton-Gillingham types of programs.) The toolkit includes:

1) Printable phoneme tiles, which you can print on cardstock paper. It's awesome if you have a color printer, but it's not required. After printing, laminate each page, cut out the tiles, and use the tiles to teach your child the phonemes! We used a small plastic tackle box container to organize our tiles.

2) This is a phoneme checklist, which you can use to track your child's mastery of each phoneme required for a solid reading foundation. When your child readily recognizes the sound represented by the letter(s) over a meaningful period of time, you can indicate your child has mastered the phoneme by checking the phoneme off on the checklist. It's a simple tool to know what phonemes need teaching and which are mastered.

3) Printable Sight Word Cards, which you can print on cardstock paper. After printing, laminate each page, cut out the sight word cards, and use the cards to teach your child sight words! We used a small business card-sized box to organize our cards. Remember, children with dyslexia often have memory difficulties, so it can take 300 or more repetitions of teaching each sight word before your child reaches mastery!

You can save, print, and reprint these materials anytime you need to make a new copy. I like making new ones for each child. When using the materials for more than one school year, it can delight your child to start with fresh copies too.
